Entries for all knockout competitions for 2024 close at 5pm on Sunday April 14th.
Niven Trophy
Drew Herbertson sets out to retain the Niven Trophy for the 3rd season running having beat Club Captain Stuart Russell in last seasons final. Can anyone stop Drew’s dominance in the Niven trophy or will 2024 see Drew make it a hattrick of wins?
Format: Singles Matchplay
Tee: White Tees
Entry Fee: £3.00 per person
Handicap Allowance: 100% of Difference between players “PLAYING” handicap. You can check your “PLAYING” Handicap on the Scottish Golf app or website.
Example:
Player 1 – WHI 19.3, PLAYING Handicap 21
Player 2 – WHI 16.4, PLAYING Handicap 18
Player 1 gets 3 strokes on holes with Stroke Index 1-3, Holes 4, 10 & 16
In the event the match is tied after 18 holes, 3 extra holes will be played, holes 1, 2 & 3. Should the match remain tied after the 3 additional holes then sudden death will take place playing the 4th hole onwards until a player wins the hole.

Gerry McGurk Trophy (Over 50’s)
Gordon Terris managed to fend off Jack Barr in last years final of the McGurk trophy to make it 2 consecutive wins. Will Jack seek revenge……. will Gordon retain his title…….. or will we see a new name on the trophy for the 2024 season?

Alexander Fleming Trophy (Over 60’s)
2023 saw Russell Madden secure the Alex Fleming Trophy after defeating George Beattie in the final. Will we see a new name on the trophy for 2024?

Portsoy Trophy
The 2023 Final of the Portsoy Trophy saw Robert McClymont & Alan Mcnee take the honours against Scott Greenshields & George Beattie.
Format: Doubles Matchplay (Alternate Shot)

Handicap Allowance: 50% of the combined “PLAYING” handicap difference. You can check your “PLAYING” Handicap on the Scottish Golf app or website.

Combined PLAYING Handicap = 32
Team B

Handicap difference = 6
50% of difference = 3
Team B get 3 strokes on holes with Stroke Index 1-3, Holes 4, 10 & 16
The Portsoy is a doubles Alternate Shot format. One person from each team will tee off on all the even numbered holes and the other two will tee off from all the odd numbered holes.
One ball is used each team and alternate shots are taken until the ball is holed.
In the event the match is tied after 18 holes, 3 extra holes will be played, holes 1, 2 & 3. Should the match remain tied after the 3 additional holes then sudden death will take place playing the 4th hole onwards until a team wins the hole.

Sportsworks Rosebowl Trophy
S.Muirhead & J.Mccroy sealed the doubles trophy with a win over Daniel Jarvie & Bob Dickson in the 2024 final.

Handicap Allowance: 90% of “PLAYING” handicap difference from lowest handicap player. You can check your “PLAYING” Handicap on the Scottish Golf app or website.

Team B
Player 1 – WHI 11.3, PLAYING Handicap 12

Lowest “PLAYING” handicap = Player 2 (Team A) with 11
The following players will receive the following shots:
Team A, Player 1: 90% of 10 = 9, Player receives 9 strokes ( 1 stroke on holes 2, 4, 6, 7, 10, 11, 14, 16 & 17)
Team B, Player 1: 90% of 1 = 0.9, Player receives 1 stroke (1 stroke on Hole 16)
Team B Player 2: 90% of 3 = 2.85, Player receives 3 strokes (1 stroke on holes 4, 10 & 16)
The Roseball Trophy is a doubles format comp. Both players in both teams play their own ball from tee to hole and lowest Nett score from each team is used to determine which team wins the hole.
In the event the match is tied after 18 holes, 3 extra holes will be played, holes 1, 2 & 3. Should the match remain tied after the 3 additional holes then sudden death will take place playing the 4th hole onwards until a team wins the hole.
