Our junior section is open to boys and girls from the age of 9 till 18.
We were one of the first clubs in Scotland to roll out the much acclaimed Clubgolf strategy in partnership with The Scottish Golf Union, The PGA and South Lanarkshire Trust Ltd.
At that time (2007), it was felt that the Juniors and club would benefit from inclusion in a very progressive and comprehensive program of Junior coaching for our present and future junior members.
The aim of our junior section is to promote healthy competitive golf starting in our academy and progressing to full junior membership.
Competitions
We have a competition every Saturday between the months of April till October and during the school summer holidays we have additional competitions on each Tuesday, Wednesday and Thursday. These competitions take the form of 18 hole strokeplay.
We also have some major Matchplay Competitons during the year notably the Junior Club Championship, The Junior Handicap Championship and the Roseweir Cup played during the September weekend in a Ryder cup format.
Team Golf
We have 2 junior team competitions that we compete in every year. The Lanarkshire Junior League and the McConnell Trophy.
The Lanarkshire league team is aim at our low handicap juniors and is played against our local teams EKGC, Strathaven GC and Langlands GC if you come out on top of this section you go forward to play in the Lanarkshire finals which we won for the first time in our history in 2009.
The McConnell Trophy is aimed at our higher handicap golfers and is play against EKGC, Strathaven GC and Langlands and we have been fortunate to win this two out of the four times it has been played for.
Trips
We all love a day out watching the golf pros and at Torrance House we have had trips to Gleneagles for the Johnny Walker, Loch Lomond for the Scottish Open, St Andrews Turnberry for The Open and the Carrick for the Scottish Ladies Open. All juniors are welcome on these trips and to date we have been able to offer the trips free of charge due to sponsors and member donations.
Golf Outings
Our junior section has a proud history of playing in the local Junior Open scene with some notable successes.
We have also organized trips to Gleneagles, Kames and Troon on a regular basis for our juniors to try their golfing skills on some challenging courses.
The Zucca Cup
Our junior open is played every year at the end of June and is open to boys and girls under18.
The prize fund is one of the best in the area and this is due to our sponsors Marcus Rafferty and Yasime Titti of Zucca Ristorante East Kilbride.
We have a 3 scratch prizes, 3 handicap prizes in 3 divisions, 3 girls prizes and a raffle every hour with various prizes on offer. We have a puuting competition with an oddessy putter as first prize.
